Homelessness is epidemic in our society. More and more children are living on the streets or in cars with their families.
Organize your students to collect some of the following items:
Family Needs: Batteries (AAA, AA, D), Flashlights, Bibles & bookmarks, Underwear , Zip-Lock bags, Thick Socks , Deodorant , Tissues and/or Toilet paper , Sewing kits, Band-aids , Toothbrushes and Toothpaste, Antibacterial Ointment , Combs & brushes, granola bars, Bottled water, Travel size soaps, shampoos , Baby wipes or wet wipes.
Child Needs: book bags, pencils, crayons with coloring and/or activity books, glue sticks, small pillow and/or blanket, books, small stuffed animal, flashlight with extra batteries.
- Create large Ziploc “gift bags” to be donated to a local shelter (like Salvation Army). Specify if they are adult male, adult female, child male or child female.
- Ziplocs can be kept in family cars to be given to people in need as they are encountered on street corners.
- Why not also include a note of encouragement, sharing the love of Christ.
