Hospital Cheer: Books

Children that spend their day inside of a hospital need love and encouragement.  They need to laugh, smile, and feel joy.  Books brighten moods and allow children to travel to faraway places.

To help a hospital develop or update the supply of books in their library:
  • Contact your local hospital (Either a Children’s Hospital or the pediatric ward of your local hospital.)
  • Request a list of needs they have for children’s books.  They may have recommendations and/or limitations on what they can accept.
  • Target a certain age range for books.
  • Collect new or “gently” used books.
  • If books are “gently” used, remove any personal information that has been printed on the book.
  • Select a day to take the books to the Hospital.
Be sure to send us pictures of your JOT experience.
